Malta is a lovely country neighboring Italy that has long been a popular investment location for foreigners. Documentation Required:

The documentation required for the Malta Residency Visa Program includes:

 Passport & travel history

 Adequate health insurance

 Educational and business credentials

 Hold a qualifying property (rental of 10, 000 EUR per annum or purchased for a minimum price of 270, 000 EUR)

 Hold Malta Government stocks (minimum value of 250, 000 EUR*) for a minimum period of 5 years

 Have an annual income of not less than €100,000 arising outside of Malta OR has in there possession of Net Assets (Ex: Property, Share, Bonds, Insurance Policy and other fixed assets) of not less than €500,000.

Malta Permanent Residence Program (MPRP)

 Non-EU nationals can apply for permanent residency in Malta under the Malta MPRP program, often known as the "Malta Golden Visa". It is a one-time expenditure that results in a permanent residence certificate that is good for the rest of one's life.

 The applicant has the option of acquiring or renting a property (minimum property worth EUR 350,000 in northern and central Malta, or EUR 300,000 in the south or Gozo) (minimum rental of EUR 12,000 per year in the northern and central parts of Malta, or EUR 10,000 per year in the south of Gozo).

 The government charges a EUR 40,000 administrative fee. Non-refundable government payment of EUR 28,000 (if acquiring a house) or EUR 58,000 (if renting) is also required of the primary applicant (if renting a property). Finally, the applicant must submit a EUR 2,000 charitable gift to a Maltese-registered organization.

 To be considered, the primary applicant must certify that he or she has assets (stocks, bonds, real estate, and others) worth at least EUR 500,000 with at least EUR 150,000 in financial assets such as stocks, bonds, funds, or bank deposits. The standard processing time is 6 to 8 months.

Malta Global Residency Program (GRP)

 The Malta GRP program provides non-EU nationals with a one-year resident visa that includes visa-free Schengen travel and particular tax incentives. To prevent expiry, a recurrent minimum spends of around EUR 24,000 plus fees is necessary every year. It takes around 90 days to complete the processing.

Malta Ordinary Residence (OR)

 The Malta OR program is only open to EU citizens (including citizens of Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Iceland) who want to live in Malta for 183 days or more per year. Applicants must demonstrate financial self-sufficiency, which is defined as having at least EUR 14,000 in available funds for a single person (EUR 23,000 for married couples). Income imported into Malta is subject to full taxation.

Malta Residence Program (TRP)

 Applicants for the Malta tax residency program for EU nationals must state that they have not spent more than 183 days in any other jurisdiction outside of Malta, although there is no obligation to spend 183 days inside Malta. The income imported into Malta is subject to a 15% special tax rate (annual minimum tax: EUR 15,000).
